Based on my support request:
www.8theme.com/topic/where-can-i-set-the-new-filter-settings/#post-319760
There should be as an absolute base the possibility that the filter starts the search function only in the category already selected in the menu and not the whole store.
In large stores and all existing filter plugins that we have used, this is a basic function. The customer first selects a category in the menu and then wants to start a filter search based on that.
Thanks

Hello @Schlee,
Thanks for writing us !
As I see on your web-site you have Elementor Products filters widget developed by our team.
Also I see you have categories dropdown in that filter so any user can select in which category to search products. Would you like to have preselected active category like on this screenshot -> gyazo.com/c1d5c28bae10cb6756082851f4d244a8 (in case this widget is added on product category page) or do you have another idea of your request ?

Hi Jack,
Thanks for coming back! Highly appreciated.
This solution would already be a good solution, so that the filter actually searches only in the appropriate category.
Alternatively, you could also set/tag in the backend for a filter in which categories it should be applied. This would save one slot in the filter criteria.
The idea is that if the customer selects a category in the menu navigation, then the filter should effectively only be applied to this category.
What do you think? :)

Hello,
I will ask you next question to clearify the solution if you ok with that ?
I will note that first solution of preselected category will be ok anyway :) and you recommend to improve it much more with adding options to select inside options active category in which to search for ? Am I right ?
If no, please, provide some more info maybe with screenshots + handwritten texts :)

Hi Jack
Soultion 1:
Solution 1 would be as you mentioned, when selecting a Product Category on the Navigation, then this Category will be pre-selected

Solution 2:
This would be the usual solution which the most filter plugin do have. In the Backend (Theme Options, Elementor Navigation or wherever) you can define for the selected filter which categories it should contain. So this filter will only show results on the previously selected/defined category.

In the Backend somewhere there is a dropdown or similar where you can select the category.

Hope you know what I Mean :)

Hello @Schlee
Thanks for details !
I have already implement an improve of first solution we talked and you wrote here for next update. I will consider about the second one with our team ok ?
Also I should say that there is a small percent that we will be able to implement 2nd solution (because it will include bad code practice which we would like to avoid in our projects). So for this time I will move this request in next step and the solution 1 will be included in next update anyway but about 2nd - follow the changelog (I don't promise about it's realization, thanks for understanding :))
